Which Species Do You Predominantly Target?

"I target predominantly lobster, brown crab and spider crab but I also catch some bass in the summer"


How many years fishing and from which port?

"I have been fishing since 1989 so for more than 25 years. Always from my home port of Hayle"


What methods do you use?

"I use traditional pots for the shellfish and poles for the bass"


What hours do you fish from and to?

"Hayle is a tidal port, so it depends on the tide but it can be from first light to last"


What's the biggest fish you've ever caught?

"I’ve regularly caught 8lb bass on the rod and also an 11lb 15oz small eyed ray"


Why do you fish?

"Fishing has always been my hobby and my livelihood – it’s just my way of life"


Do you have a most memorable fishing moment?

"Definitely catching bass. My best day on the poles was 67 bass and on the rod was 49 bass"


How important is sustainable fishing in your view point?

"It makes a difference to me as a small single handed fishermen because if I keep good quality fish, I can catch less but make more"

"To support their local inshore fishermen. It also tastes great!"
