Which Species Do You Predominantly Target?

"Mackerel and pollock"

How many years fishing and from which port?

"25 years, mostly from Newlyn but also from St Ives and Falmouth"

What methods do you use?

"Handlines almost all the time but I use nets for a few weeks in the Winter when the water is too dirty for lines"

What hours do you fish from and to?

"I always get to where I want to fish by first light and usually get into port mid to late afternoon"

What's the biggest fish you've ever caught?

"80lb blue shark"

Why do you fish?

"For the love of the job. There's no better place to work and the money is usually ok too! I've never had a normal job to know any different"

Do you have a most memorable fishing moment?

"Way too many to remember. I've had some brilliant days fishing for pollock, catching 396kg of pollock in nine hours was one of the best"

How important is sustainable fishing in your view point?

"Very important. Small quantities of top quality line caught fish is loads more sustainable than any other method of fishing. All our fishing is very low impact"

Why should UK consumers eat your fish?

"Top quality, low food miles and eating Cornish fish all helps to support the local economy, rather than buying fish from a factory ship in another country"
