Fresh Monk Fish
Premium Monk Fish From Cornwall’s Day Boats
The versatile monkfish, an unattractive fish with inner beauty, is a fine-dining favourite, with firm, meaty, bone-free, white flesh that comes from the tail part of the fish. It’s low in fat and has a delicious, sweet flavour that’s akin to langoustine or lobster, and because it’s dense, it works especially well in stews and fish curries.
FLAVOUR: Sweet | TEXTURE: Firm | IN SEASON: All Year
Monkfish can be found in the waters of Cornwall, albeit in small numbers. So, while we land some local fish, the vast majority is sourced directly from local day boats landing into Newlyn, depending on quality and availability.
Our Monk fish is landed on the shore of Cornwall, caught using traditional day boat trawlers.
